Sleep in the news
As predicted, sleep is proving to be one of the hottest topics of 2011, and the press has been particularly interested in the subject of late.

Below are some examples of some of the stories and our suggestions on how best to make use of them. If sleep is high on the list of things that the press and people in general like to talk about, then it follows that the subject of beds shouldn’t be too far away – which is where you come in!

We as an industry need to be reminding consumers that while a good bed regularly replaced might not be the answer to all our sleeping problems, it is a very real and viable solution in many cases. If we don’t tell them, how will they know?

A good night’s rest really does help you make important decisions - Daily Mail (click here for full story)

In referencing this story, you might want to point out to any potential customers that the good sleep you get from a good, regularly replaced mattress isn’t luxury: it’s an essential part of our everyday lives.

Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes…why lack of sleep is much worse for women - Daily Mail (click here for full story)

More proof that a good bed is vitally important to women, who happen to be the key decision makers we should be targeting with our sales messages. This is a great opportunity, then, to remind women in particular that a good new mattress is as important an investment in their wellbeing as money spent on healthy foods and an active lifestyle.

Why that weekend lie-in doesn’t work after days with just six hours’ sleep - Daily Mail (click here for full story)

Another story supporting the importance of keeping regular sleep patterns. Evidence suggests that people are actually choosing to only go to bed for six hours per night – so they had better make sure that it’s quality sleep they’re getting , which they’ll only get by sleeping on a good bed less than seven-years-old!

A woman’s sleep pattern is key to marital bliss - Marie Claire (click here for full story)

Ah, we knew it… women hold all the cards. Thank goodness they’re our key customers, not the men! Of course not all marriage problems are caused by lack of sleep, but common sense dictates that tired couples are very likely to fight more. A good, new mattress that suits both parties is a must (please see and download our most recent ‘Wedded Bliss’ and ‘I Do’ advertising toolkits).

The Get Up and Go Plan – The Express (click here for full story)

Good to see that a good night’s sleep is getting as much credit as nutrition and exercise in relation to general health and wellbeing. People need the best possible tools to achieve their goals: and in the case of getting a good night’s sleep, the tool they need is the best possible bed!

Monday, May 10th, 2010

The world cup is nearly upon us and if the boys in your life are anything like mine, they’ll be football crazy! From England flags to face paint….if they see it, they want it! Luckily for me, when my little boy decided he wanted a football themed bed, it didn’t take me to long to find a really nice one with a nice price attached to it!

Beds4u Direct had an amazing selection of kids beds in stock, most of them could be delivered the next day too, which was fantastic as we all know how much kids hate waiting for things! We chose the Benson BD229/A 2’6 White Bedstead, it really is a great little bed. So my son now has football everything! Let’s hope his interests don’t change to soon!
