Choosing a New Mattress: How to Make the Task Easier

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

When it comes to choosing a new mattress, it’s not always a straightforward process. This is normally something which you only have to do once or twice a decade after all, and you may find that things have changed a lot since the last time you purchased a mattress.

But rather than getting flummoxed at all of the brands, technologies and options now available, stick to a few rules and you will find the process becomes a lot easier.

Decide on a Budget

This is something which you should ideally do before you even start looking at mattresses. A mattress is not something which you will use once or twice and then discard: you will be using it for a third of the hours of every day. It is therefore something which you may want to spend a bit more on than other purchases.

The general rule is to spend as much as you can afford on a new mattress, whether you end up choosing a Miracoil mattress, a Sealy mattress or any other brand. That doesn’t mean that you have to spend a fortune, but it does mean that you should avoid shopping on price alone.

You very much get what you pay for when you buy a new mattress, and if you want to enjoy comfortable nights for the next decade then a good quality mattress which you spend a bit more on is the key.

Look for the Good Brands

There are many brands of mattresses, and it may seem a bit overwhelming at first. However, remember that some brands have a lot of experience and are known for manufacturing high quality mattresses, and then you can decide whether you want to stick with them.

A Sealy mattress, a Silentnight mattress or a Miracoil mattress are three options which may interest you based on their experience and high quality manufacturing skills.

Of course there are many other types of mattresses, but if you want to ensure you get high quality then any one of the above is a good place to start.

Try Them Out

Whatever you have decided on for the budget and the brand, always make sure you try out the mattress before you purchase it.

If it doesn’t feel right, then even if you have been told it is a high quality mattress, always go with your instinct.

Whether you opt for a Silentnight mattress, a Sealy mattress or any other brand, you need to feel comfortable using it so get up onto it and give it a go in the store before making your decision.

Choose the Perfect Mattress with Ease

It does not have to be difficult to choose the right mattress next time you need to buy a new one. Just stick to these simple guidelines and you should find that you are able to find the perfect mattress without having to look too hard.

Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress

I have been putting up with my bed, and specifically my mattress, for the last 9 months or so. I kept putting it off, thinking it would either last, get better or I would magically forget about it. But it didn’t. It got worse. And the worse ‘it’ got, the worse my life became.

In the last 9 months I have split up with my boyfriend, been demoted at work, had a quite bad car crash and put on a stone and a half. “What,” I hear you ask, “is the ‘it’ in this story?” Well my avid readers, the ‘it’ is a bed spring. That’s right, one measly bed spring. It may be a cursed bed spring, I doubt it, but considering all the pain it has put me though it might as well be.

I have been getting less and less sleep, been more and more grumpy (hence the deterioration of life-as-I-knew-it) and I have been going to bed with a sense of dread and waking up with a sense of relief.

Well, as I said, last week was the final straw. The spring punctured me in my sleep.

Oh, you won’t believe the new bed. It is like a dream. Would I have appreciated it as much without the last 9 months? I doubt it. But I don’t care. I bought myself a Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress. It is my most luxurious possession. I love it. Now I wake up happy, go to bed happy, I won’t crash my car ever again, I’ve already lost half a stone. And the Boyfriend? I’m working on it.

I would have thought that the conclusion of this particular story was fairly obvious. If you mattress is terrible, replace it immediately. It will ruin your life, slowly, gnawing away at it while you (try to) sleep. Don’t let it win. Buy a Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress.

Memory Foam Mattresses

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Are you thinking of treating yourself to a memory foam mattress? Would you like to know the major differences between a foam and memory foam mattress? If so, read on…

A regular foam mattress has closed cell foam, for the most part and the closed cells trap air as it heats up and doesn’t release it. Therefore causing the unfortunate sleeper to get too hot! Not an ideal situation in the middle of summer! I think this is the reason memory foam has gotten a reputation for sleeping hot is from people’s experiences with old fashioned foam.

Visco elastic memory foam is, by nature, open celled which means that the air travels from cell to cell as you apply pressure to it. This action allows the air to expel and be replaced by air from the room. Replacing the air that’s in these cells tends to give you a much cooler night sleeping on a memory foam mattress than on a foam mattress.

Another major difference is the slow recovery feature of memory foam. The greatest difference in the two is the ability of memory foam to soften under the places where your body heat affects it. This is what makes memory foam so comfortable. If you have an injury, you’ll definitely notice softness under the injured part of your body because injuries are normally accompanied by fevered heat and this extra heat will cause the mattress material to soften even further under your injured body part.

A Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress is one of the most resilient and durable products in today’s bedding industry. Memory Foam itself can be used as a top layer mattress filling, or combined into a zoned pad with reflex foam and latex. Its rebound properties are 10 times greater than traditional mattress fillings. Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress will react with your body’s temperature and weight, compressing and moulding to your body contours. These mattresses are widely used in the health industry and it has been proven that it assists back pains, relieves body pressure points, painful joints and circulatory problems, it will also give you an improved and restful nights sleep.

Many consumers are finding that the double size mattresses and bed systems are just not providing enough space that they require, the length and width of the double bed only leaves a little space available for one person to move comfortably, let alone two.

If this sounds a bit like you and you just can not seem to find the right bed, have you thought about looking at buying a 6ft memory foam mattress.

It is not surprising that this Silentnight Miracoil 7 Pocket 2100 Memory – 6’0 Carina Dream Mattress is one of the most popular on the market and the sales of the 6ft memory foam are rising every year. This memory foam mattress is great for those that want to have extra space to move around and yet not too much so that they feel like they are completely stranded in a mass of empty space.

Every body (and everybody) is different. We all experience different aches and pains and our mattress should reflect and adapt to our own body shape. Sleeping with this fundamental body support means that you don’t need as much sleep because the relaxation you feel is total and will revitalise you much faster than other mattress can.
