When you need a Silentnight

Miracoil 7 Pocket Mattress

My wife and I are compatible in a number of ways. We both enjoy a well cooked roast dinner, British seaside holidays, and listening to old music in new cars. In forty-odd years of marriage there in one are that we have never been compatible in – bed. Not like that; not in a blue way, I mean sleeping. We have never been able to sleep well together. We both toss and turn like no-one’s business, when I’m hot she’s cold and vice-versa. It takes its toll after a while.

We’re into our sixties now and have both retired, and funnily enough we spend less time in bed now than when we were working! However recently we have been talking about separate beds – same room mind, just so we can get some decent sleep. Neither of us likes the idea because it is like admitting a failure and sleeping together (however bad) is a very important part of marriage. But we were beginning to feel like there was no alternative.

We started going bed shopping last month, for separate beds – I tell you, I’ve never had as much fun shopping for anything in my life! Bouncing on these mattresses, trying water beds, air beds, foam beds, it was great. My wife and I had a right giggle. We were both very surprised at the technology now used in mattresses, particularly the Silentnight Mattresses. I was astonished to learn that they were now using latex in some of their models!

We were talking to a very, very helpful and understanding sales girl about Silentnight Mattresses and we told her about our problem. She was very understanding and told us that there may yet be a way where we don’t have to sleep in separate beds. Se told us about a Silentnight Mattress called a Miracoil 7 Pocket Mattress. These pockets that make it up all work independently, they transfer heat into cold and vise versa and they have a ‘no roll together function’. We thought that it would be worth one last try and we bought it there and then.

Two nights later it was our first sleep on it – it was marvelous, absolutely delightful. Now the wife is phoning up our B&B that we have booked for next summer asking them what type of mattresses they have! She won’t sleep in anything else!

Kid’s Beds

Furnishing and decorating the kid’s rooms has been much more fun than I expected – because anything goes, there are no rules whatsoever. I got lots of tester paint pots in bright colours and told the kids to choose what they wanted – a different colour for each wall if they want…and they did. Ok, it doesn’t look great to my boring adult eyes, but they love it and it has been an expression of their creativity. And hopefully they will learn from their mistakes.

Choosing their beds was interesting too. My daughter wanted this fake 4 poster fairy tale bed, with pink muslin. Garish, brash and totally fabulous. It is exactly what I would have wanted at that age. And my son has chosen a bed in the shape of a rocket. Both of these purchases seemed to make a lot of sense in the shop, less so in their rooms and in reality. But they love it.

When it came to choosing mattresses I was in charge for once. I spoke at length to the sales girl and was advised that Silentnight had an excellent range of mattresses tailored for kids called Silentnight My First Bed – easy to wash, hypoallergenic and naturally ventilated. It didn’t take much convincing. I just hope that when it comes to it they will be able to drag themselves out of it to go to school in the mornings!

I know that I give my kids the freedom to make their own decision, and I know a lot of parents that would condone me for doing so, however I would never give them the freedom to make decisions on really important matters regarding their own wellbeing or heath. I consider choosing their own mattresses to be out of their remit. As a parent you have to make these choices based on facts and that’s exactly what I did!

Don’t be silly, buy a Sealy!

Sealy Mattresses

I’m sure some of you will agree that you get what you pay for and cheaper isn’t usually better. When you are investing in a major purchase, such as a computer or a kitchen appliance, you want a quality brand that you know and trust. The same goes for buying a mattress or a bed. The average person who gets the recommended six to eight hours of sleep per night spends one third of his life in bed. This obviously means that a mattress as a major purchase. When purchasing a new mattress, look for top brand names that ensure quality and comfort.

Well established markets, for any goods, are often recognized on a global scale. For consumers, this recognition is a promise of quality from that brand. A highly popular brand is not going to undercut their top position by putting an inferior product on the market under their name.

Popular brands depend largely on customer loyalty. A customer who buys an inferior product from a globally known brand will probably not remain loyal for very long. To promote loyalty, large brand name companies look to promote quality products that will keep customers happy for long periods of time rather than make a quick buck for themselves.

There are several trustworthy, popular brands on the market today, such as Sealy, Sleep Comfort and Tempur-Pedic to name a few. Each brand is competing for your loyalty. One way to catch your attention is to offer deals on popular products. When you go shopping for a new mattress, be sure to check out the different deals offered and the details that apply to each deal. Take advantage of the brand name fight for your loyalty.

For many years, Sealy has been at the top of the mattress world. Sealy has made a name for itself because of the quality and comfort of it Sealy mattresses. Sealy mattresses are durable because they are made with quality materials and enhanced with superior padding for maximum comfort. Users of Sealy mattresses find that a Sealy mattress can withstand decades of use without a lot of wear and tear.

If you find that a Sealy mattress is not the right mattress for you, make sure you are still investing in a quality mattress with at least a ten year warranty. Your sleep is an important part of your success in life, so make a solid investment in a trusted mattress brand.

Making the Best of a Bad Situation

Monday, September 6th, 2010

It was only a few months ago that my family and I came home to find our house devastated by an unexpected flood. We’d been away on holiday in sunny Spain and came back to find everything from our prized possessions to our junk floating around in a pool of murky water. Everything was lost and not one thing could be saved. Suffice to say that we were appropriately gutted.

We had family and friends help us as they allowed us to borrow some pieces of furniture while we got back on our feet. It was on one of these occasions when we returned my best man’s air bed that he told us we should invest in a bed set we would be able to keep for life. Curious, we allowed him to show us around the Silentnight Mattress collections. My wife and I were changed people. While the builders and contractors were busy refitting the kitchen we were in deep consideration of which Miracoil mattress to buy!

However I get ahead of myself. See the reason we converted is simply because we stayed a few nights at Luke’s house and he had all his rooms fitted out with Silentnight mattresses. Never was a better night’s sleep had. Complete with Leather Bedsteads for us and Metal Bedsteads for the children.

That was how we came to purchase the Miracoil 7 Silentnight mattress for ourselves and the Miracoil 3 Silentnight mattress for each of our kids. The intelligent spring system distributes equal support throughout the body so we’re able to sleep peacefully through the night without being woken up by the usual uncomfortable twists and turns most people face on normal beds. Plus it’s hypo-allergenic which is especially good as they’re quite sensitive.

We chose the Miracoil 7 simply because at our age we felt the added need of having more cushioning and pressure relief for our hips, shoulders and neck. Plus my wife is thrilled that I don’t roll into her anymore as it uses an intelligent zone sleeping method which avoids the awful bumping at night!

Conclusion

While the circumstances in which we came to learn about the quality of a good night’s rest, weren’t ideal, we still feel lucky that we’re all safe and sound and that we still have our house. In fact, acquiring the Silentnight mattresses has played a part in enriching our full and lucky lives.
