Sealy Posturepedic Mattress

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

I have never really given a lot of thought to my bed. I just thought a bed was a bed was a bed. I’ve been to posh hotels and slept in some very, very nice beds, I have also been in hostels and slept in some very, very nasty beds, and I’ve slept on sofas, in tents and on floors. I’m lucky; I always seem to get a good night’s sleep. So when my girlfriend and I took the plunge and decided to move in together I just assumed we’d use my bed as she rented a fully furnished flat and didn’t own her own bed. Well never before have I seen a foot so firmly put down.

So we went bed shopping. For my lovely girlfriend, this was a very serious mission. Hours of research, reams of printouts, articles cut out of many a magazine and newspaper and a month of traipsing around furniture shops. I won’t exaggerate: I hated it.

Anyway we finally settled on a bed with a Sealy Mattress, a Sealy Posturepedic Mattress to be exact, not too shabby. You know I’m almost tempted to tell you it was worth the month of pain in order to finally sleep on this piece of kit. It is fantastic, I have never slept better and I have never woken up so energised.

Unfortunately a couple of months later my girlfriend and I split up, and she took the bed. I don’t know what upset me more. Actually I do, it was the loss of the bed. The following weekend I picked up a brand new Sealy Posturepedic Mattress. Guess what I picked up the weekend after?

Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress

I have been putting up with my bed, and specifically my mattress, for the last 9 months or so. I kept putting it off, thinking it would either last, get better or I would magically forget about it. But it didn’t. It got worse. And the worse ‘it’ got, the worse my life became.

In the last 9 months I have split up with my boyfriend, been demoted at work, had a quite bad car crash and put on a stone and a half. “What,” I hear you ask, “is the ‘it’ in this story?” Well my avid readers, the ‘it’ is a bed spring. That’s right, one measly bed spring. It may be a cursed bed spring, I doubt it, but considering all the pain it has put me though it might as well be.

I have been getting less and less sleep, been more and more grumpy (hence the deterioration of life-as-I-knew-it) and I have been going to bed with a sense of dread and waking up with a sense of relief.

Well, as I said, last week was the final straw. The spring punctured me in my sleep.

Oh, you won’t believe the new bed. It is like a dream. Would I have appreciated it as much without the last 9 months? I doubt it. But I don’t care. I bought myself a Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress. It is my most luxurious possession. I love it. Now I wake up happy, go to bed happy, I won’t crash my car ever again, I’ve already lost half a stone. And the Boyfriend? I’m working on it.

I would have thought that the conclusion of this particular story was fairly obvious. If you mattress is terrible, replace it immediately. It will ruin your life, slowly, gnawing away at it while you (try to) sleep. Don’t let it win. Buy a Silentnight Memory Foam Mattress.

Memory Foam Mattresses

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Are you thinking of treating yourself to a memory foam mattress? Would you like to know the major differences between a foam and memory foam mattress? If so, read on…

A regular foam mattress has closed cell foam, for the most part and the closed cells trap air as it heats up and doesn’t release it. Therefore causing the unfortunate sleeper to get too hot! Not an ideal situation in the middle of summer! I think this is the reason memory foam has gotten a reputation for sleeping hot is from people’s experiences with old fashioned foam.

Visco elastic memory foam is, by nature, open celled which means that the air travels from cell to cell as you apply pressure to it. This action allows the air to expel and be replaced by air from the room. Replacing the air that’s in these cells tends to give you a much cooler night sleeping on a memory foam mattress than on a foam mattress.

Another major difference is the slow recovery feature of memory foam. The greatest difference in the two is the ability of memory foam to soften under the places where your body heat affects it. This is what makes memory foam so comfortable. If you have an injury, you’ll definitely notice softness under the injured part of your body because injuries are normally accompanied by fevered heat and this extra heat will cause the mattress material to soften even further under your injured body part.

Leather Beds

Do you want to redecorate your bedroom? If so, you may want to look into purchasing a swanky new leather bed. As the ultimate in style, this will accentuate your bedroom with stylishness and sophistication you didn’t know you could have! You can find these beds at beds4u direct in all of the same styles and sizes as you would other beds. The price range is going to vary depending on the variety that you choose but beds4u promise to do you the best deal on the net!

Sleigh beds are my personal favourite as they can add a lot of character to a room. This style gives the bedroom new dimension and is a great way to update a look without changing anything else. A curved headboard and footboard are the main attributes of this particular styling. This one does use both a frame and box spring.

Maybe you would prefer a platform leather bed as it is a very contemporary choice. There is no box spring involved as the mattress itself just sits directly on the platform. This is a sleek and simplistic choice that has been gaining popularity. It is a very modern alternative to the traditional frame styling.

You can also find a traditional leather bed at beds4u, this can be purchased with both the headboard and footboard or just the headboard itself. A frame, box spring and mattress will all be utilized with this variety. As for size, you can buy single to super king size, the choice is yours!
